PROJECTS
Rerouting Bicycle Route 76
Bicycle Route 76 originated as the Bikecentennial, the route for a large bike tour organized for the 1976 celebration of the United States Bicentennial.
Planning is underway with VDOT and other stakeholders to reroute the bike route to take advantage of the historic section of the Village of Palmyra. Essentially, this would mean instead of just heading south on Rt. 15 in Palmyra we would like to see the route loop a very short distance ( a few hundred yards) on to Main St. in the village and back to Rt. 15 to connect up with Rt. 53. This would enhance the cyclist's experience and provide additional encouragement for the town to support the cyclists.
Comprehensive Plan
The Comprehensive Plan is a document that describes in detail both the uses that we make of county resources and the amenities and infrastructure that we think would improve our lives. Fluvanna County Community Development is working on the revision of the Comprehensive Plan.
The Comprehensive Plan is the framework and reference for most decisions that are made by our Planning Commission when there are questions about zoning changes, housing developments, etc. It is also used when determining the capital expenditure allocations during the budget process. This is very important work.
